Alexandr Vatagin nació en Ucrania, pero reside en Viena desde los ’90. En la década de 2000 comenzó a hacer música. Tocó en las bandas Tupolev y con el quinteto italiano Port Royal y fundó el proyecto Quarz con el que editó su primer álbum en el sello portugués Crónica Electrónica.
Este es su tercer álbum después de ‘Vaelot’ (Mirakelmusik, 2006) y ‘Shards’ (Valeot, 2008).
En ‘Serza’ Vatagin toca el chelo, sintetizador y laptop, y colaboran con él Hideki Umezawa en electrónica, Fabian Pollack en guitarra acústica, Martin Siebert en guitarra acústica, David Schwaighart en batería, Peter Holy en piano, Lukas Scholler y Giulo Aldinucci en electrónica adicional.
En este disco se combinan el post-rock y la electrónica minimalista experimental donde los instrumentos acústicos conviven con los diseños sonoros del computador. En general las atmósferas son tranquilas con suaves acordes de guitarra, chelo y bellas notas de piano.

Alexandr Vatagin was born in Ukraine and since the 90’s he’s based in Vienna. In the 2000s he started making music. He played in the bands Tupolev and in the Italian quintet Port Royal. He founded the Quarz project with which he released his first album on Portuguese Crónica Electrónica.
This is his third album after ‘Vaelot’ (Mirakelmusik, 2006) and ‘Shards’ (Valeot, 2008).
On ‘Serza’ Vatagin plays cello, synthesizer and laptop and collaborates with him in electronics Hideki Umezawa, Fabian Pollack on acoustic guitar, Martin Siebert on acoustic guitar, David Schwaighart on drums, Peter Holy on piano, Lukas Scholler and Giulo Aldinucci in additional electronics.
This album combines post-rock and experimental minimal electronics where the acoustic instruments blend with computer sound design. Overall the atmosphere is calm with gentle guitar chords, cello and soft piano notes.
