Antoine Monzonis-Calvet, aka Atone, is a musician from Angers, France that recently has released the EP ‘Un Jour’ in the French Autres Directions In Music label. An emotive record in which keyboards lines mark its melancholic ancestry, subtle of melodic electronica. **Para la producción del EP “Un Jour” cuáles eran las líneas overdubs, ¿que agregaste a la grabación original que hiciste para una tocata en vivo?**
“En realidad utilicé el estudio de grabación que tengo en casa para muchas pistas en vivo: órganos y los principales controles y para actuar sobre las perillas de control en vivo y a través de la programación.
Hay algunos sintetizadores sobre los que sólo soy capaz de escuchar porque son tocados a muy bajo volumen, por ejemplo, en el primer tema la línea de sintetizador del comienzo está tocada en vivo de una sola vez desde el principio y hasta el final”.
**El tema «Balneaire» tiene una atmósfera muy tranquila. Tengo la leve impresión que este tema está inspirado en algún balneario.**
«Este es el tema más tranquilo que por sobretodo he trabajado la síntesis del principal sonido. Quizás notado que ‘Un Jour’ es por un momento: el día de la partida y el viaje. Evocaría con ‘Balnéaire’ el término de las vacaciones en septiembre cuando ya no estás más de tres o cuatro horas en la playa y que todas las tiendas y las villas están cerradas… Una dulce melancolía…”
**¿Cómo comenzaste a producir tu música?**
«Soy ingeniero en sonido y músico. Tengo gran interés en la mezcla: tengo muchas cosas en mi cabeza y he tocado todas éstas en un solo mes».
**Tu música tiene un halo infantil y parece muy ingenua. ¿Este es el tipo de estética que te gusta para la música y el arte?**
«Lo que me gusta es todo lo que ha hecho Ponme, aka Elliot Perkins, en su álbum ‘Ilisu’ [Morr Music, 2002]: melodías simples, sonidos ambient e interesantes ritmos. Me gusta mucho ‘AER Valid’ de Arovane y Phonem y la primera publicación de Morr Music».
**¿Nos podrías comentar acerca de tu proyecto ADS[R]?**
«Es un proyecto que tengo con Amnesia hace cuatro años. Hemos trabajado mucho para encontrar la forma musical que podría aproximarse mejor a nuestra sensibilidad y a nuestras respectivas influencias musicales. Hemos comenzado con una forma de ambient, aunque nos hemos orientado cada vez al rock. Por el momento tenemos una edición en Arbouse Recordings y hoy estamos trabajando en una música que podría estar localizada entre Autechre [ritmos] y Mogwaï [melodías]».

**For the making of ‘Un Jour EP’ which were the overdub lines you add to the original recording made for a live set?**
«Actually I’ve used the home studio recording for a lot of live lines: organs and major leads and to act on knob-controls in live and no by programming.
There are synthesizer that I’m the only able to hear because they are played very quiet. For example, on this first track the synthesizer line of the beginning is played in live in a one catch from the beginning to the end.»
**The ‘Balneaire’ track it was a very quiet mood. I have the slightly idea that this track was inspired in some resort?**
«This is the track the more quiet; I’ve overall worked on the synthesis of the lead sound. Maybe you’ve noted that ‘Un Jour’ is one moment: the day of the departure and the travel. I would evoke with ‘Balnéaire’ the end of the holidays in September when you are not more than 3 or 4 hours on the beach and that all stores and villas are closed… A sweet melancholy…»
**How did you get into producing?**
«I’m technician and musician. I’ve got a huge interest for mixing; I had lots of things in my head and I’ve played all of its in one month.»
**Your music it has a childish flavor and it seems very naive. This is the kind of aesthetic you like with music and art?**
«What I like is all that Phonem has done on ‘Ilisu’: simple melodies, ambient sounds and excited rhythms. I like very much ‘AER Valid’ by Arovane and Phonem, and the first release of Morr Music.»
**Please tell us about you ADS[R] project?**
«ADS[R] is a project I realize with Amnesie since 4 years. We have worked a lot to find the musical form which would approach the best our sensitivity and our respective musical influences. We have began with an ambient form and get into a more though (more rock) one. For the moment, we’ve got one release on Arbouse Records and today we work on a music that could be localized between Autechre [rythms] and Mogwaï [melodies].»
