Tercer álbum en Kranky de Ben Vida aka Bird Show, quien reside en Chicago, después de su anterior disco “Lightning Ghost” (Kranky, 2006). Me parece que este disco es menos estructurado y más orientado a lo instrumental y al trance. Esto se refleja en la portada del disco en que aparecen varios instrumentos étnicos que toca el propio Ben. Incluso los títulos son los nombres de los instrumentos.
Conocidos artistas están como invitados: Greg Davis, Robert AA. Lowe (aka Lichens), Adam Vida y Michael Zerang.
Esta es una fina combinación de psicodelia, folk y drones junto a la voz de Vida. Todo esto dentro de la improvisación, con un halo casi religioso en algunas canciones, mientras que en otras, en una estética musical minimalista, el órgano se desenvuelve en espirales infinitos.

Third album on Kranky from Chicago based Ben Vida aka Bird Show following his ‘Lightning Ghost’ album from 2006 on Kranky. I feel this new album is less structured and more instrumental orientated and trance-inducing, and this is reflected in the array of ethnic instruments – pictured on the art cover – played by Ben. Even the titles of the songs are instruments’ names.
Renowned artists play as guests in the likes of Greg Davis, Robert AA. Lowe (aka Lichens), Adam Vida and Michael Zerang.
This is a fine combination of psych folk and drones along with Vida’s vocals within an extended improvisation, with an almost religious feel in some songs while in others, minimal-like organs unfold into endless spirals.
