Blood Stereo se compone por Dylan Nyoukis (probablemente de Escocia) y Karen Constance. Desde 2000 ambos tienen un importante número de trabajos. Nyoukis toca en las bandas Beautiful Music Company, The Mongoloid Men, Prick Decay y Karen Constance hace lo suyo en The Polly Shang Kuan Band y también trabaja bajo los alias de Smack Music 7 y Karen Lollypop. Ambos participan en Ceylon Mange y Decaer Pinga.
“The Magnetic Headache” es también el nombre de una exhibición de arte de este dúo que se lleva a cabo en Berlín del 19 de julio al 30 de agosto.
Blood Stereo trabaja con instrumentos análogos, cintas, loops y grabaciones de campo. Voces (y también procesadas), sonidos de animales, campanillas, ruidosa percusión y un atisbo a la cultura oriental. Toda esta amalgama de inquietantes atmósferas son creadas por el bizarro mundo de Blood Stereo.
“Helium Contract” quizá es el tema más estructurado como canción (aunque no cantan), donde las titubeantes notas de órgano son de corte clásico.
En el último tema “The Broken Line Recorder” como músico invitado está Neil Campbell aka Astral Social Club. En “The Broken…” los arpeggio del teclado empiezan a tejerse y marcan el final de este excelente disco.

Dylan Nyoukis and Karen Constance (probably from Scotland) is the duo for Blood Stereo. Both have an important body of work since 2000. Nyoukis play in band such as Beautiful Music Company, The Mongoloid Men, Prick Decay and Karen Constance in The Polly Shang Kuan Band and also works under the monikers of Smack Music 7 and Karen Lollypop. Both play in Ceylon Mange and Decaer Pinga.
‘The Magnetic Headache’ is also an exhibition in Berlin that it is taking place in Berlin from July 19th to August 30th of the art work of the duo.
Blood Stereo work with analogue devices, tapes, loops and field recordings. Voices (and processed), sounds of animals, bells, clattering percussion and an Eastern culture feel like. All this amalgam of disquieting atmospheres is created by the weird Blood Stereo world.
‘Helium Contract’ maybe is the more structured ‘song’ in this album where organ trembling lines go more classical.
On the last track ‘The Broken Line Recorder’ plays as guest Neil Campbell aka Astral Social Club, an icon of UK’s underground. On ‘The Broken…’ a kind of arpeggio keyboard lines are interweaving and mark the end of this stunning album.
