Dark Star Safari

Este proyecto musical surge cuando Samuel Rohrer invita a Jan Bang y Eivind Aarset al famoso estudio Candy Bomber en Berlín. Allí, y completando la formación junto a Erik Honoré, se van estructurando canciones a partir de sesiones de improvisación en que cada uno de los músicos pudo volcar su creatividad y emergieron nuevas habilidades.
El rol que cada uno desempeña en la formación es:
Jan Bang en vocales, sampleos en vivo, piano, dictáfono;
Erik Honoré, sintetizador, sampleos, bajo sintetizado, voz, letra;
Eivind Aarset, guitarra, electrónica, bajo;
y Samuel Rohrer, batería, percusión, electrónica y sintetizadores.
A partir del trabajo de improvisación, el grupo comenzó la segunda etapa de este trabajo, que fue explorar nuevos matices que ofrecían las texturas y armonías de las canciones, logrando composiciones consolidadas y evocadoras de ese espíritu del pop vanguardista.
Junto al formato canción que tiene este disco, se deslizan viñetas experimentales. No puedo dejar de mencionar que por momentos se me aparece el pop onírico de Japan y la voz de su antiguo líder David Sylvian.
Me parece que una de las canciones notables de este álbum es “Resilient Star”, junto a la voz seductora del noruego Jan Bang y las guitarras deslizantes y desgarradoras de Eivind Aarset con sus delays interminables. Esta es una canción con profundidad, melancólica y cautivadora que le pone el sello innovador a este álbum.

This musical project came up when Samuel Rohrer invited Jan Bang and Eivind Aarset to the famous studio Candy Bomber in Berlin. Completing the band along with Erik Honoré, they structured songs from improvisation sessions in which each of the musicians could overturn their creativity and new skills emerged.
The role that each one plays in the band is:
Jan Bang on vocals, live samples, piano, dictaphone;
Erik Honoré, synthesizer, samples, synthesized bass, voice, lyrics;
Eivind Aarset, guitar, electronics, bass;
and Samuel Rohrer, drums, percussion, electronics and synthesizers.
From the improvisation work, the group started the second stage of this work, which was to explore new nuances that the textures and harmonies of the songs offered, achieving consolidated songs and evocative of the spirit of avant-garde pop.
Along with the song format that this album has, experimental vignettes slide in. I cannot stop mentioning that, at times, the dream pop of Japan and the voice of its former leader David Sylvian appear to me.
It seems to me that one of the most notable songs on this album is «Resilient Star», along with the seductive vocals of Norwegian Jan Bang and the sliding and heartbreaking guitars of Eivind Aarset with their endless delays. This is a song with depth, melancholy, and captivating that puts the innovative stamp on this album.
