Destructo Swarmbots
Destructo Swarmbots aka Mike Mare es residente en Queens, New York quien toca la guitarra y múltiples efectos, teclados y voz alterada, creando una muralla de ruido blanco, drones y ambientación tanto que puede ver la luz como los oscuros corredores.
Destructo Swarmbots toca solo o con otros artistas como James O’Brien y Bianca de Ala Muerte y ha colaborado con MGR, Darsombra, Dälek, Faust [estos dos últimos como parte de la banda en vivo Faust/Dälek en el festival Kilbi enn Dudingen, Suiza].
Destructo Swarmbots ha editado un CD-R de edición limitada correspondiente a una gira, el álbum “2 on Creepydogeyes”, “The Mountain EP” [Public Guilt, 2004] y recientemente en álbum “Clear Light” en el sello Public Guilt, además de varias remezclas y apariciones en compilados. Sus próximos proyectos son con Dälek y Oddatee y colaboraciones con MGR [aka Mike Gallagher de Isis], Magicicada, Gulty Connector [Japan] y DJ Motiv.
Mares ya ha finalizado remezclas para Isis, Genghis Tron, Branta, ÏX, Trephine y Dälek.

Destructo Swarmbots aka Mike Mare is based in Queens, New York. He plays the guitar and multiple effects, keyboards and altered vocals, creating a wall of noise, drones and ambience washes that both see the light and the dark corridors.
Destructo Swarmbots plays live solo or with other artists such as James O’Brien and Bianca of Ala Muerte and collaborated with MGR, Darsombra, Dälek, Faust [with the latter two as part of Faust/Dälek live performance at the Kilbi festival in Dudingen, Switzerland].
Destructo Swarmbots has released a limited self-titled tour, the full-length ‘2 on Creepydogeyes’, ‘The Mountain EP’ [Public Guilt, 2004] and recently the CD album ‘Clear Light’ on Public Guilt, plus several remixes and compilation appearances. His forthcoming projects are along with Dälek and Oddatee and collaborations with MGR, Magicicada, Gulty Connector [Japan] and DJ Motiv.
Mares already had completed remixes for Isis, Genghis Tron, Branta, ÏX, Trephine and Dälek.

**Es alucinante escuchar las distintas capas de sonidos que tú produces. ¿Acaso hay otros instrumentos aparte de la guitarra?**
“En la mayoría de los sonidos del álbum ocupo la guitarra, pero también he agregado algunos teclados y utilizado algo de percusión en las mezclas y también realicé algunas sutiles partes vocales. La mayoría de las canciones son escritas primero torturando una guitarra y partiendo desde allí”.
**¿Nos podrías contar acerca de la escena musical en la que estás involucrado? Darsombra o Tree Creature son nuevos nombres para mí.**
“No creo que Destructo Swarmbots esté involucrado en alguna escena en particular, no es parte de la escena ruidista o experimental y obviamente tampoco es parte de ninguna escena de rock.
Bandas como Darsombra, Dälek, Magicicada, Ala Muerte están tocando música real, música que tiene alma. Ellos la hacen porque les sale de la sangre hacerlo, ellos deben hacer música. Yo me puedo conectar con lo que hacen, entonces estar involucrado con bandas como estas en cualquier nivel es increíble, tanto sea en una gira, colaborando, o simplemente yéndoles a ver tocar. Me entusiasma ser parte de una escena musical con bandas como estas. Todavía no he escuchado a Tree Creature, voy a tocar con ellos en una semana más, por lo que te voy a contar de ellos”.
**¿Qué tipo de sonidos estás interesado en explorar?**
“Quiero trabajar con todos los sonidos, las posibilidades son infinitas y tengo muchas ideas que quiero escuchar y que salgan a la luz. Estoy pensando en meterme en las instalaciones sonoras y continuar haciendo sonido para películas”.
**¿Tienes proyectos paralelos?**
“Tengo un montón de proyectos paralelos, pero ahora mismo los que saldrán más pronto son Mermaids, que es un proyecto que tengo con David Sanderson [de Cream Abdul Babar], con The School of Practical Philosophy con Bianca [Ala Muerte] y Potamus y hay varias colaboraciones que deberían salir pronto a la superficie”.

**It’s amazing the different layers of sound you produce. Are any other instruments besides the guitar?**
“Guitar is what I used for most of the sounds on the album, but I also added some keyboards, buried some percussion in the mixes, and did some subtle vocal parts as well. Most of the songs are written by torturing a guitar first and going from there.”
**Tell us about the musical scene you are involved with? Darsombra or Tree Creature are new names for me.**
“I don’t really think Destructo Swarmbots is involved in any particular scene, it’s not a part of the noise or experimental scenes, and obviously not a part of any rock scene.
Bands like Darsombra, Dälek, Magicicada, Ala Muerte, they are playing real music, music that has a soul, they do it because it bleeds out of them, they have to make music, I can connect with what they do, so being involved with bands like these on any level is incredible whether it’s touring, collaborating, or even just getting to see them play, I’m thrilled to be a part of a musical scene with bands like this. I haven’t heard Tree Creature yet, I will be playing with them in about a week, so I’ll let you know about them.”
**Which kind of sounds are you interested in exploring?**
“I want to work with all sounds, the possibilities are endless and I have many ideas I want to hear come to life. I’m looking to get more involved in Sound Installations and continuing to do sound for film.”
**Do you have any side-projects?**
“I have a bunch of side projects, but right now the ones that are coming along the quickest are, Mermaids which is a project I have with David Sanderson (of Cream Abdul Babar), The School Of Practical Philosophy with Bianca (Ala Muerte), and Potamus, and there are a bunch of collaborations that should be surfacing soon.”
