Este es la nueva entrega del chileno Diego Morales quien hace cuatro años editó su anterior disco “El Dub de los Pobres” [Luna, 2003].
“Calmao” [una abreviación y modismo chileno a calmado y se dice con ironía cuando alguien se altera o se apura] fue grabado por Morales entre 2004 y 2007 y colaboran en este disco “Nawito” y Leonardo Ahumada [quien editó el disco “Realizaciones Caseras Vol. 1” en Jacobino Discos en 2005].
“Calmao” navega por las aguas del ambient con la combinación de instrumentos análogos como sintetizador, órgano y acústicos como guitarra, campanillas, harmónica y en cuyas texturas se aprecian ruidos de objetos encontrados y sonidos de aves, de mar y voces.
Morales tiene gran sentido estético, las atmósferas que crea están adornadas de tonos brillantes, timbres fulgurantes, melodías sugerentes y en definitiva invita a entrar a un espacio acogedor. Si bien la fórmula ambient tiene muchos cultores en la música electrónica, “Calmao” nos señala la necesidad de adentrarnos en un mundo más apacible, en el cual nos podamos entender y respetar.

This is the new delivery of Chilean Diego Morales since his previous ‘El Dub de los Pobres’ [Luna, 2003] album.
‘Calmao’ [a Chilean abbreviation and slang to calm and says with irony when somebody is altered or is in a hurry] was recorded by Morales between 2004 and 2007 along with the collaboration of ‘Nawito’ and Leonardo Ahumada [who released the ‘Realizaciones Caseras Vol. 1’ album on Chilean Jacobino Discos label in 2005].
‘Calmao’ hold synthesized ambient washes with the combination of analogue instruments like synthesizer, organ and acoustics like guitar, bells, and harmonic in whose textures noises of found objects and sounds of birds, of sea, and voices are appraised.
Morales have a fine aesthetic sense, he creates pulsing atmospheres, shifting, unfolding and dissipating which are adorned of shining tones, flashing timbres, suggestive melodies and it really invites the listener to enter a cosy space. Although the ambient formula has many producers in the electronic music field, ‘Calmao’ spread out the necessity to be part of a serenity world in which we pruned ourselves to understand and respect.
