El percusionista de Milwaukee Jon Mueller está activo desde 1999 y su trabajo lo ha llevado a ser un referente en las escenas de improvisación, electroacústica y electrónica experimental, editando una abundante discografía en importantes sellos de la escena de vanguardia y ha colaborado con una gran variedad de artistas como Z’EV, Jason Kahn, Chris Rosenau, Jarboe (ex Swans), Asmus Tietchens, entre otros.
“The Hole” abre con un bello dulcimer que no predice el aparente cántico tibetano budista y el poderoso sonido basado en baterías que fluye en todo el álbum.
El enfoque minimal insinúa el ensamble de baterías de Steve Reich con un sentido religioso y bastante emotivo. Aquí no hay sobre mezclas o procesamientos especiales, es sólo un redoble de baterías y especialmente en “Hands” el sonido se torna más poderoso en resonancia.
En mi opinión este es uno de los mejores discos de este año que termina.

Milwaukee percussionist Jon Mueller has been active since 1999 working in different fields as electroacoustic, experimental electronics and improv. He has a bunch of releases in several avant-garde record labels and collaborated alongwith Z’EV, Jason Kahn, Chris Rosenau, Jarboe (ex Swans), Asmus Tietchens, to name a few.
“The Hole” opens with a gorgeous hammered dulcimer not predicting the Tibetan Buddhist chanting like and the powerful sound based on drum kit that flows all over the album.
The minimal approach hints on Steve Reich’s drumming with a religious feeling and quite touching. There are not overdubs or special processing is just a roll of a drum and specially on “Hands” the sound of more bigger drums resonance.
In my opinion this is one of the best records of the year.
