El suizo Luca Forcucci es investigador, compositor y artista sonoro. Cara Stacey es pianista y etnomusicóloga de Johannesburgo y Mpho Molikeng es músico, actor y poeta. Realizaron esta colaboración e investigación musical que se desarrolló durante tres años en varias regiones del sur de África (Mozambique, Eswatini, Limpopo, Johannesburgo, Pretoria, Ciudad del Cabo, Durban y la costa este).
En “B(l)(e)(e)(n)dings” Luca Forcucci realiza live electronics, composición y mezclas. Cara Stacey y Mpho Molikeng tocan varios instrumentos del sur de África.
Este es un trabajo en el que se mezclan los elementos acústicos, la electrónica y electroacústica. Se despliega en los cinco temas de este disco cierta intensidad en la ejecución de los instrumentos y la manipulación electrónica sobre éstos, además de las sombrías atmósferas. Por otro lado, los instrumentos aborígenes evocan un aire de frescura, primitivo e inocente y marcan un ritmo hipnótico como en el track “E”. Otras canciones como “Endings”, de carácter gutural, se internan en vericuetos más abstractos. “Blendings” y “Bleedings” es la simbiosis perfecta entre la estructura y la improvisación, las posibilidades de la electrónica y los ricos matices de los instrumentos acústicos de aquella parte del mundo.

Luca Forcucci is a researcher, composer and Swiss sound artist. Cara Stacey is a pianist and ethnomusicologist from Johannesburg and Mpho Molikeng is a musician, actor and poet. They realized this collaboration and musical research developed during three years in several Southern African regions (Mozambique, Eswatini, Limpopo, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban and the East Coast).
On “B(l)(e)(e)(n)dings” Luca Forcucci performs live electronics, composition and mixes. Cara Stacey and Mpho Molikeng play various instruments from Southern Africa.
This is a work in which the acoustic, electronic and electroacoustic elements are mixed together. It unfolds in the five tracks of this album a certain intensity in the performance of the instruments and electronic manipulation on them, in addition to the gloomy atmospheres. On the other hand, the aboriginal instruments evoke an air of freshness, primitive and innocence and also mark a hypnotic rhythm as on track «E». Other songs like «Endings», of guttural character, go into more abstract tortuous roads. «Blendings» and «Bleedings» are a perfect symbiosis between structure and improvisation, the possibilities of electronics and the rich nuances of acoustic instruments from that part of the world.
