O Yuki Conjugate, “The Euphoria of Disobedience”, OYC, 2006
Después de 10 años OYC, el grupo inglés que cultiva desde 1984 el ambient étnico y los ritmos tribales, cuya formación original se componía por Tim Horberry, Andrew Hulme y Roger Horberry, regresan con un nuevo álbum.
En los últimos 10 años OYC se disuelve y sus miembros realizan sus propios proyectos, como A Small Good Thing de A. Hulme junto a Tom Fazzini y un álbum con Paul Schutze. R. Horberry, realiza un álbum CD como Alp, ambos discos editados en Soleilmoon Recordings.
La segunda encarnación de OYC se compone de Dan Murford, Pete Woodhead y Joe Gardiner, quienes más tarde abandonan OYC y continúan con su propio proyecto Sons Of Silence.
“The Euphoria Of Disobedience” fue compuesto entre 2002 y 2005 por A. Hulme, R. Horberry y el nuevo miembro Rob Jenkins, quien tiene el proyecto Stone Idols. Tiene también como músicos invitados a Cliff Martínez en percusión (track 2) y a Mr Bops en diruba – un instrumento indio – (track 8).
Este nuevo álbum editado en el sello de ediciones limitadas OYC imprimió sólo 1.000 copias utilizando en su tapa una gruesa capa plástica texturada en cuyo fondo borroso aparece una inocente flor roja. Estas texturas en la tapa representan las múltiples capas que pueden advertirse en este disco que forman preciosas piezas ambientales.
Cabe destacar entre otros temas a “Incomplete” en el que Mr Bops toca la cítara diruba que nos transporta al oriente o la experimentación en “Where She Goes at Night” en el que encontramos efectos a la guitarra en tanto una voz procesada va tejiendo un lenguaje entrecortado perteneciente al más allá.
Este disco marca el regreso de un grupo que sigue entregando nuevos matices y luces en la música moderna.

After 10 years OYC the English group of ethno ambient formed in 1984 whose original members were Tim Horberry, Andrew Hulme and Roger Horberry, returns with a new album.
During the last 10 years OYC split-up and their members did their own projects, like A. Hulme’s A Small Good Thing outfit alongwith Tom Fazzini and Mark Sedgwick and an album with Paul Schutze. R. Horberry as Alp released a CD, both discs published on Soleilmoon Recordings.
A second OYC incarnation was Dave Murford, Pete Woodhead and Joe Gardiner, who later left OYC and continue with their own project Sons Of Silence.
The Euphoria of Disobedience’s was composed between 2002 and completed in 2005 by the third OYC incarnation made of A. Hulme, R. Horberry and a new member Rob Jenkins who also hold the side-project Stone Idols. Also there are guest musician as Cliff Martínez (mallet percussion, track 2) and Mr Bops on diruba, an Indian instrument (track 8).
This new album released in their own OYC limited label printed a unique digipak fronted with a hand cast resin tile in 1.000 copies with a naïve red flower painted on the front cover. You can see the red flower a bit blurred and maybe that represents the multi layered and textured sounds that produce amazing ambient pieces.
There are many notables here such as Incomplete in which Mr Bops plays the diruba sitar that transports us to the east or the sonic experimentation on Where She Goes at Night in which we found powerful guitar effects in as much a processed voice is weaving a difficult language that belongs to another world.
This new album marks the return of a group that continues giving new lights and shades in modern music.
