Plumb & Plumber
Jesús Valle Pazos es un artista sonoro que vive en Vigo, España, quien desarrolla sus proyectos Plumb & Plumber y Uveaele. El primero dedicado a crear capas de sonidos orgánicos y sintéticos con la utilización de sampleos y registros de campo, y el procesamiento digital, tanto en un contexto de formato canción como de improvisación. El segundo interviene directamente los paisajes sonoros.
Su discografía como Plumb & Plumber consta de los discos “Come Early Go Late” [Nishi netlabel, 2005] y su reciente EP ‘Organic Feedback’ [Test Tube, 2005], además de participar en algunos compilados como P & P y Uveaele.
Su música es cinemática pues los registros de campo – a veces procesados – crean espacios sonoros ambientales de espesas texturas cuyo discurso no peca de autocomplaciente.

Jesús Valle Pazos is a sound artist from Vigo, Spain who develops his projects Plumb & Plumber and Uveaele. The first one creates layers of organic and synthetic sounds with samples, field recordings, DSP within the context of song format and improvisation. The second output manipulates soundscapes.
His discography comprises the CDs ‘Come Early Go Late’ [Nishi netlabel, 2005] and his recent ‘Organic Feedback’ EP [Test Tube, 2005], plus some appearances in several compilations both as P & P and Uveaele.
His music is cinematic through the field recordings – sometimes processed – create environmental sound spaces of thick textures together with a speech which is certainly a social criticism.

**¿Nos puedes comentar brevemente acerca de los propósitos de tus proyectos Plumb & Plumber y Uveaele?**
“Los proyectos en los que trabajo actualmente son Plumb & Plumber y Uveaele. ‘Organic Feedback’ es el segundo trabajo de Plumb & Plumber. Con Plumb & Plumber construyo en formato ‘canción’: armonía-melodía. Con Uveaele la fuente es siempre un único paisaje sonoro. En realidad son dos formas diferentes de llegar al mismo punto, emocionar con el audio, expresar estados de ánimo”.
**El sentido de la repetición está muy presente en Plumb & Plumber, pero es la repetición el eje de desarrollo por el que se crean sonidos diversos. ¿Parecería complejo explicar este proceso?**
“Me divierte ver como melodías y ritmos aparentemente incompatibles giran a la vez. Es una especie de equilibrismo. En la repetición encuentro el terreno donde hacer efectiva la sorpresa. ‘Organic Feedback’, segundo trabajo de Plumb & Plumber, gira en torno a una improvisación de guitarra acústica grabada como un paisaje sonoro”.
**Al parecer Vigo es una ciudad-ambiente propicia para el desarrollo de la música experimental con soportes como el colectivo en torno a SINSALradio, con tienda de discos y creadores. Además, han podido hacer conexión con algunos músicos de esta parte del mundo como el chileno Cáncer/Receptor o los argentinos Luis Marte y Pablo Reche y por cierto la vinculación con el sello Crónica Electrónica de Porto. ¿Qué nos puedes decir de esto?**
“Sí, Vigo es una ciudad industrial, desordenada. Pero tiene un entorno natural impresionante. El colectivo SINSAL está trabajando duro con la programación. En Vigo vivimos pegados a Portugal. Además de Crónica Electrónica, están Sirr-Records, Mi-Mi y Monocromática, con su netlabel Test Tube, donde saldrá en breve ‘Organic Feedback’ EP.”
**En tu disco “Come Early Go Late” se pueden apreciar un crisol de timbres y ruidos diversos procesados digitalmente. ¿Dónde están aquí las dosis de improvisación en tu música?**
“El debut de Plumb & Plumber contiene una variedad de fuentes sonoras que ha enriquecido el conjunto. La improvisación reside en este caso ‘Come Early…’ en la composición en sí y la grabación ‘en una toma’ de los instrumentos en pista y mezcla”.
**¿Nos puedes comentar tus futuros proyectos?**
“En breve saldrá el primer trabajo de Uveaele – mi proyecto dedicado a la manipulación de paisajes sonoros – este EP lo forman cuatro improvisaciones de un registro sonoro y el nuevo trabajo de Plumb & Plumber [‘Organic Feedback’] saldrá en julio en el netlabel Test Tube”.

**Could you please comment to us briefly about the intentions of your projects Plumb & Plumber and Uveaele?**
“At the present time I work on my projects are Plumb & Plumber and Uveaele. ‘Organic Feedback’ is the second work of Plumb & Plumber. With Plumb and Plumber I construct a ‘song’ format: harmony-melody. With Uveaele the source is always a unique soundscape. In fact there are two different forms to get at the same point, to create emotion with the audio and to express moods.”
**The sense of repetition is very present in Plumb & Plumber; but this repetition is the axis development form which is creating a wide range of sounds. It would be difficult to explain this process?**
“It amuses to me to see how melodies and rhythms apparently incompatible turn simultaneously. It’s a kind of balance. In the repetition I found the land where to make the surprise effective. Plumb & Plumber turns around an improvisation of a recorded acoustic guitar like a soundscape.”
**Apparently Vigo is a propitious city-atmosphere for the development of experimental music with supports like the collective SINSALradio, with record shops and sound artists. In addition, they have been able to make connection with some musicians of this part of the world in the likes of the Chilean Cáncer/Receptor or the Argentineans Luis Marte and Pablo Reche and by the way the entailment with Portuguese Crónica Electronica label based in Porto. What you tell us about all this?**
“Yes, Vigo is an industrial city, disordered but it has impressive natural surroundings. The SINSAL collective is working hard with programming. In Vigo we lived close to Portugal. Besides Crónica Electronica, are Sirr-Records, Mi-Mi and Monocromática with its Tube Test netlabel on which ‘Organic Feedback’ EP will be release shortly [already released by now].”
**In your disc ‘Come Early Go Late’ it is possible to appreciate a wide range of digital timbres and noises. Where there are the doses of improvisation in your music?**
“The Plumb & Plumber album debut contains a variety of sound sources that has enriched the set. The improvisation resides in this case ‘Come Early Go Late’ – in the composition itself and the recording ‘in one take’ of the instruments in the tracks and mixes made with this purpose.”
**What about your future projects?**
“Shortly it will come out the first work of Uveaele – my project dedicated to the manipulation of soundscapes. This EP is comprised by four improvisations of a sound recording. And the new work of Plumb & Plumber [‘Organic Feedback’] will be out in July on the Tube Test netlabel.”
