Towards Nova Zembla [T.N.Z.] es un colectivo inglés en el que se encuentran músicos, diseñadores, poetas, DJ’s y productores que están bajo el alero del nuevo sello londinense Soundseasy.
T.N.Z. recogen el legado de la electrónica, ambient, nuevo jazz, hip-hop de vanguardia y glitch que se produjera en los ’90 por artistas como la electrónica de Aphex Twin y Boards Of Canada y la mezcla de ritmos hip-hop, dub y soul de LTJ Bukem, Coldcut o Reprazent.
Todos los temas están construidos con mucha sutileza. Desde la elegancia de Ventriloquist con su tema orquestado “2 ghots”, al lacónico “Thalia” de Corsair [proyecto de Rory Thompson, fundador de Soundseasy] con sus ritmos de jazz y ondulantes líneas de teclados, o los acordes de guitarra de The Challenge con su canción “Orange seven” que esparce relajo y quietud.
Earthed destila un hip-hop hipnotizador, con una exquisita trompeta de fondo, además de la dulce voz de Annie Sanger-Davis y el rapero Tim Jones. Jaime Simmonds, DJ y productor, ofrece un breakbeat con un fondo orquestado de trompeta y cuerdas. Acoustic Ladyland combina el jazz y glitch y Lodestone, que abre este álbum, se impone con su conjunto de cuerdas creando un sonido masivo.

Towards Nova Zembla [T.N.Z.] is an English collective comprised of musicians, designers, poets, DJ’s and producers who are under the eaves of the new London based Soundseasy imprint.
T.N.Z. gather the legacy of the electronica, ambient, new jazz, avant hip-hop and glitch that took place in the ’90s by artists in the likes of Aphex Twin, Boards Of Canada’s electronica, the mixture of rhythm hip-hop, dub and soul of LTJ Bukem, Coldcut and Reprazent.
All the songs are constructed with much subtlety, from the elegance of Ventriloquist with their orchestrated cut ‘2 ghots’ to the laconic ‘Thalia’ of Corsair [project of Rory Thompson founder of Soundseasy] with their jazzy rhythm percussion and rippled keyboards lines, or the guitar chords of The Challenge with its song ‘Orange seven’ that it scatters a laid-back groove.
Earthed distills hypnotic hip-hop with an exquisite trumpet in the background, in addition to Annie Sanger-Davis’s sweet voice and rapper Tim Jones. Jaime Simmonds, DJ and producer, offers breakbeat with an orchestrated made up of trumpet and strings. Acoustic Ladyland that opens this album combines jazz with glitch, and Lodestone prevails with its set of chords creating a massive sound.
