Gnod es un colectivo de drone residente en Manchester y White Hills es un trío de New York compuesto por Dave W en guitarra y voz, Bob Bellomo en batería y Ego Sensation en bajo.
White Hills tiene seis discos autoeditados e editados y Gnod ha autoeditado tres CD-R’s (“Vol. 1”, “Vol. 2” y “Vol. 3”).
“Aquarian Downer” es una rara y limitada edición en CD-R y supongo que no deben haberse editado más de 50 copias. Este CD es una colaboración entre estos dos grupos y registra una presentación en vivo.
“Belonging” es el tema que abre este disco y entrega efectos de guitarra que emergen desde el fondo como al estilo space-rock pero más ruidoso. Poniendo este tema a alto volumen crea una magnífica muralla de sonido.
“Hard Butter Reality” el segundo tema, muestra un baño de ambient con sintes, improvisados remolinos de piano, junto a una cascada de percusión de congas.
“Subordinate Contact” es una suave percusión de congas y drones que invita al oyente a un mundo de ensueño.
“Aquarian Downer” abre con una quieta percusión y algunas voces de personas, y de repente la guitarra suelta un sonido de amplificación y una pesada batería marca un ritmo constante y duro, en tanto que las guitarras comienzan a gritar.
“When You Are Old” que cierra este disco consiste en drones de sintes tanto hipnóticos como caóticos. ¡Una verdadera joya!

Gnod is a rhythm and drone collective based in Manchester, UK and White Hills is a New York trio: Dave W on guitar and vocals, Bob Bellomo on drums and Ego Sensation on bass.
White Hills has six records self-released and released and Gnod has self-released three CD-R’s (‘Vol. 1’, ‘Vol. 2’ and ‘Vol. 3’).
‘Aquarian Downer’ is a rare and very limited edition on CD-R and I guess that no more than 50 copies were made. This CD is a collaboration between these two bands and records a live set.
‘Belonging’ is the opener track and delivers guitar FX that emerge slowly on the background in a kind of space-rock style but noisy. Putting this track loud is an amazing wall of sound.
Ambient synth washes, improv piano swirls together with a cascade of congas percussion on the second track ‘Hard Butter Reality’ is close to the Krautrock sound and creates a hypnotic warm atmosphere.
‘Subordinate Contact’ is a trip of soft congas percussion and drones that takes the listener to a dreamy world.
‘Aquarian Downer’ opens very quiet with some people voices and in a sudden the guitar bursts an amplifier sound and heavy drums repeat a hard beat while the guitars become yelling.
‘When You Are Old’ that closes this record consists of modular synth penetrations and drone buzz, quietly hypnotic and chaotic as well. A real gem!
