Morgen Wurde & Tis feat. Tetsuroh Konishi
Wolfgang Röttger más conocido como Morgen Wurde está activo desde mediados de los 2000 con más de 20 discos en solitario y en colaboración con otros artistas. Esto último se plasma en “Erwuchs” (crecer en español), en el que colaboran Rötter y Christian Schmidt con su alias Tis, quien también lidera los proyectos Klordop y Segensklang y gestiona su sello Roo Records. Tanto Rötter como Schmidt han participado en los reconocidos compilatorios “Pop Ambient” del sello Kompakt Records, cuya curatoría es de Wolfgang Voigt aka GAS.
“Erwuchs” -editado por el sello japonés de música electrónica fundado en 1996, Format- incluye la participación destacada de un antiguo colaborador, el trompetista, compositor e improvisador japonés Tetsuroh Konishi, quien abarca campos como la composición para bandas sonoras y piezas de danza. Otra colaboradora frecuente es la vocalista, letrista y compositora de ascendencia filipina y afincada en Estados Unidos, María Estrella Aggabao. En arreglos en violín participa el compositor de música contemporánea, el músico franco-suizo, Georges-Emmanuel Schneider.
La portada del álbum que refleja un bello paisaje tropical, nos transporta a un mundo idílico que se sostiene en un frágil equilibrio, en medio de un mundo convulso y cada vez más amenazante que se logra plasmar en “Durchtränkte” y “Erschaute”, en esta última canción, emerge la voz sublime de María Estrella Aggabao que planea allá en lo alto del firmamento, cruzándose con el vibrante violín de Georges-Emmanuel Schneider
La punta de lanza del ambient-techno la inaugura “Durchfuhr” con su atmósfera grandilocuente envuelta por la sedosa trompeta de Tetsuroh Konishi que se eleva por todo lo alto.
Lo que cruza todo este álbum, es el suave pulso rítmico del ambient-techno junto a la ampulosa trompeta que le da un toque colmado de gracia que se puede evidenciar en los tracks «Trotzte», «Triumphierte», «Durchfuhr» y «Weiterzog». Y como las obras de Morgen Wurde & Tis tienen una deriva bailable, sutiles guiños al house se entronizan en «Anfachte», «Übersäte» y «Wehte».
Una vez más vuelvo a mirar la portada de este álbum con su paradisíaco paisaje y me ratifica que «Erwuchs» es la banda sonora apropiada.
Wolfgang Röttger, better known as Morgen Wurde, has been active since the mid-2000s with over 20 solo albums and collaborations with other artists. The latter is reflected in ‘Erwuchs’ (to grow in English), a collaboration between Rötter and Christian Schmidt under his alias Tis, who also leads the projects Klordop and Segensklang and runs his label Roo Records. Both Rötter and Schmidt have participated in the renowned ‘Pop Ambient’ compilations on the Kompakt Records label, curated by Wolfgang Voigt aka GAS.
‘Erwuchs’ -released by the Japanese electronic music label Format, founded in 1996- features the notable participation of a long-time collaborator, Japanese trumpeter, composer and improviser Tetsuroh Konishi, who works in the fields of soundtrack composition and dance pieces. Another frequent collaborator is the US-based vocalist, lyricist and composer of Filipino descent, María Estrella Aggabao. Also contemporary music composer and French-Swiss Georges-Emmanuel Schneider, participates in the violin arrangements.
The album cover, which depicts a beautiful tropical landscape, convey us to an idyllic world that is held in a fragile balance, in the midst of a turbulent and increasingly threatening world that is captured in ‘Durchtränkte’ and ‘Erschaute’. In the latter song, features the sublime voice of María Estrella Aggabao soaring high above the firmament, crossing ways with the vibrant violin of Georges-Emmanuel Schneider.
The spearhead of ambient techno is inaugurated by ‘Durchfuhr’ with its grandiloquent atmosphere enveloped by the silky trumpet of Tetsuroh Konishi rising high above.
What runs through this entire album is the soft rhythmic pulse of ambient techno alongside the bombastic trumpet, which gives it a touch of grace that can be heard in the tracks ‘Trotzte’, ‘Triumphierte’, ‘Durchfuhr’ and ‘Weiterzog’. And since Morgen Wurde & Tis’s works have a danceable drift, subtle nods to house music are enthroned in ‘Anfachte’, ‘Übersäte’ and ‘Wehte’.
Once more I look back at the cover of this album with its paradisiacal landscape, and it confirms that ‘Erwuchs’ is the appropriate soundtrack.
