Fujimine
La italiana Margherita Mine alias Fujimine estudió historia del arte y trabajó como modelo en París. Se volvió a Italia para centrarse en la producción musical y la curaduría de eventos y proyectos editoriales. Sus influencias musicales comprenden los inicios de la IDM, power electronics y el dark ambient.
“Threshold of Discomfort” es su EP debut que consiste en ocho tracks de electrónica con pasajes experimentales, junto a una amalgama de techno-ambient, hardcore techno y IDM. Abre los fuegos “Constant Altered State” con un baño de sintetizadores ambientales y un beat sostenido y contundente que marca un ritmo certero e hipnótico, mientras comienza a colmarse un espacio de luz como en un caleidoscopio que despliega sus alas y colores que bien podrían haberse extendido al más allá. “HOPE” es una pieza ambient de varias capas de pads que entran en un loop, en tanto “Mutation of a Monster” se emplaza con un techno minimalista con reminiscencia de la escuela de los ’90. En “round1” se aceleran los beats por minuto enraizados en el hardcore techno que continúa en “Unhinged Violence”.
“Banality of Evil” marca un punto de inflexión en este disco por su exquisito juego de percusiones y capas ambientales inquietantes que también se aprecia en “Ego Magick”. Finaliza este álbum “When Feeling In One’s Bones” que me evoca al comienzo de la misteriosa «Dark River» («Love’s Secret Domain») de Coil con sus sintes vacilantes.
Fujimine expone una singular mezcla tanto de tracks para un exigente club underground como de espacios para una atenta escucha envueltos en brumosas atmósferas.
Italian Margherita Mine, alias Fujimine, studied art history and worked as a model in Paris for six years. Then she relocated to Italy to focus on music production and curating events and publishing projects. Her musical influences include early IDM, power electronics, and dark ambient.
‘Threshold of Discomfort’ is her debut EP, consisting of eight electronic tracks with experimental passages, alongside an amalgam of techno-ambient, hardcore techno, and IDM. The opener ‘Constant Altered State,’ are ambient synthesizer washes together with a sustained, forceful beat that sets a precise, hypnotic rhythm, while a space of light begins to fill up like a kaleidoscope unfolding its wings and colours that could well have spread to the beyond. ‘HOPE’ is an ambient piece with several layers of pads that go into a loop, while ‘Mutation of a Monster’ is a minimalist techno track reminiscent of the 90s school. In ‘round1,’ the beats per minute accelerate, rooted in hardcore techno, which continues in ‘Unhinged Violence.’
‘Banality of Evil‘ marks a turning point on this album with its exquisite percussion and haunting ambient layers, which can also be heard in ‘Ego Magick.’ The album ends with ‘When Feeling In One’s Bones,’ which evokes Coil’s mysterious song ‘Dark River’ (’Love’s Secret Domain‘) with its wavering synths.
Fujimine presents a unique mix of tracks for a demanding underground club and spaces for attentive listening enveloped in hazy atmospheres.
