**Excepter, ‘KA’, Fusetron, 2004**

Este es el LP debut de Excepter, otra banda emergente de la bulliciosa escena de Brooklyn, que se abre con “Shattered See Skull” en una forma que recuerda a los Volcano the Bear, el surrealista cuarteto de Leicester, tanto por la oscuridad de las interesantes texturas como el sentido onírico que se impregna al trabajo vocal.
En términos generales, este disco presenta una combinación de elementos e influencias muy distintos, en un marco sonoro en que predominan los efectos y los instrumentos electrónicos. Con todo, la No Wave y el Krautrock son referencias importantes para su adecuada comprensión.
La banda está integrada por Dan Hougland, Macrae Semans, Caitlin Cook, Calder Martin y John Fell Ryan, quien formó parte de los influyentes No Neck Blues Band.
Hay aquí espacio para el ritmo (“Be Beyond Me” y “The Fire And The Wood”) y las voces tratadas. También para los ecos y las estructuras difusas. Si algún elemento concadenante existe de este conjunto de tomas, éste está conformado por las atmósferas predominantemente obscuras y sucias, y las percusiones sintéticas.
Si bien la cara B es más homogénea que la A, el sonido de los Excepter bien puede caracterizarse como una infinita sucesión de flujos de loops densos y penetrantes que parecen absorberse unos a otros, de lo cual es un buen ejemplo “Give Me The Cave”.
Si bien KA es una experiencia musical muy demandante, considerando la importante cantidad de sonidos abrasivos incluida en sus pistas, también es un interesante ejemplo del dinamismo creativo que se está viviendo en distintos lugares luego de que la electrónica comenzara a explorar sus límites.

This is the LP debut of Excepter – another emergent band of Brooklyn’s noisy scene -, that opens with ‘Shattered See Skull’ in a form that recalls Volcano The Bear, the surrealist quartet of Leicester, both interesting dark textures and a dreamy sense that it is impregnated to the vocal work.
In general terms, this disc shows a very different combination of elements and influences, in a sonorous frame in which the electronic effects and instruments predominate. Yet, the No Wave and Krautrock genres are important references for their well understanding.
The band is integrated by Dan Hougland, Macrae Semans, Caitlin Cook, Calder Martin and John Fell Ryan who was a member of influential No Neck Blues Band.
There is here space for the rhythm (‘Be Beyond Me’ and ‘The Fire And The Wood’) and the processed voices. The echoes and the diffuse structures as well. If some concatenate element exists of this set of takings, this one is conformed by predominantly dark and dirty atmospheres, and the synthetic percussions.
Although side B is more homogenous than the A, the sound of Excepter it can be characterize like an endless succession of dense and penetrating flows of loops that seem to be absorbed each other of which is a good example ‘Give Me The Cave’.
Although ‘KA’ is a very demanding musical experience considering the important amount of abrasive sounds including in their tracks, also is an interesting example of the creative dynamism that is being living in different places after that the electronica began to explore its limits.
