Ashtray Navigations, “Four More Raga Moods”, Ikuisuus, 2006
Ashtray Navigations es el proyecto del inglés Phil Todd que comienza en 1991 y desde entonces ha editado innumerables discos en formato CD y CD-R en sellos tales como en su desaparecido Betley Welcomes Careful Drivers, Siltbreeze, American Tapes, Celebrate Psi Phenomenon, entre otros.
Este disco es la continuación de “Four Raga Moods” [Betley Welcomes Careful Drivers, 1999] y en él colaboran Alex Neilson, Ben Reynolds, Mel Delaney, Chris Hladowski, Matt Cairns, Andy Jarvis y Pete Nolan [Magik Markers].
“Four More Raga Moods” nos propone un viaje por la psicodelia, el trance y los drones en donde podemos encontrar trazos a Hawkwind y Acid Mothers Temple.
“History of pshychedelia”, primer tema de este CD, nos muestra el diálogo de Todd y Reynolds con dos guitarras acústicas desafinadas, con reverberancia y atisbos de música hindú.
Luego afiladas y melódicas guitarras tenemos en “Hey sunflower motherfucker” [curioso título], en el que Todd produce un sonido low-fi que registra una lluvia y en el fondo casi imperceptible, emergen poco a poco los acordes de una guitarra.
El tema “Pete Nolan’s effect” aparece Nolan con un raga de envolventes texturas de guitarra con múltiples efectos, Delaney en teclado Casio y dulzaina, y Reynolds en voz, cintas y pedales.
Y por último, “And the profit and the loss” es un viaje al trance, con una espectral voz, campanillas, didgeridoo y muchos efectos en la guitarra.

Ashtray Navigations is the solo project of Englishman Phil Todd who started in 1991 and since then he has released innumerable records on CD and CD-R in labels like his now defunct Betley Welcomes Careful Drivers, Siltbreeze, American Tape, Celebrate Psi Phenomenon, among others.
This CD is the follow-up of Four Raga Moods originally released on Betley Welcomes Careful Drivers in 1999 that make appearances Alex Neilson, Ben Reynolds, Mel Delaney, Chris Hladowski, Matt Cairns, Andy Jarvis and Pete Nolan collaborate [Magik Markers].
Four More Raga Moods proposes us a trip to the psicodelia world, trance and drones where we can find outlines to Hawkwind and Acid Mothers Temple.
History of pshychedelia, the first track of this CD, shows an acoustic guitar out of tune dialogue of Todd and Reynolds, with spyings of Hindu music.
Then melodic guitars we found on Hey sunflower motherfucker [weird title], in which Todd produces a low-fi aesthetic sound that recordings of rain and in the backdrop emerge slowly an almost imperceptible guitar chords.
The cut Pete Nolan’s effect appears Nolan with a raga of guitar textures with multiple effects, Delaney on Casio keyboard and reeds, and Reynolds in voice, tapes and pedals.
And finally, And the profit and the loss is a trip to trance, with a spectral voice, bells, didgeridoo and many guitar washes.
