Ultra Milkmaids, “Pocket Station”, Ant-Zen, 2006
Originalmente Ultra Milkmaids se formó en 1993 como un trío en la ciudad de Dijon, Francia, compuesto por las enigmáticas siglas de Y. en guitarra, O. en batería y R. en bajo. Actualmente U.M. lo integra Y. en batería, guitarra, sampler, percusión, voz y efectos y R. toca el bajo, guitarra cóncava, sintetizador Moog, voz y efectos, más la colaboración de Cécile Schott, aka Colleen, en violoncelo en los temas “In the mood” y “The heat”.
U.M. reúne en “Pocket Station” influencias de la psicodelia, el sonido post-punk de los ’80, ambient, el pop y rock experimental.
A veces suenan a Joy Division, otras a Echo & The Bunnymen, o a The Residents y en sus 38 minutos que dura el disco encontramos temas destacados como el semi acústico “A real cry”, el ambient de “Less dreams”, “My star” con sus guitarras post-punk o las enrarecidas atmósferas de “In the mood” en el que Cécile Schott navega con notas algo desafinadas con el violoncelo.
En general tenemos un disco cuya propuesta ecléctica es efectiva.

Originally Ultra Milkmaids formed in 1993 as a trio in the city of Dijon, France, made up of the enigmatic abbreviations of Y. on guitar, O. on drums and R. on bass.
Currently U.M. are Y. on guitar, sampler, percussion, voice and effects and R., plays bass Ebow guitar, Moog synthesizer, voice and effects, plus the collaboration of Cécile Schott aka Colleen on violoncello in the tracks ‘In the mood’ and ‘The heat’.
U.M. reunites on ‘Pocket Station’ various influences like psychedelia, the 80’s post-punk sound, ambient and rock.
Sometimes they sound in the likes of Joy Division, others to Echo & The Bunnymen, or to The Residents and in its 38 minutes long of this album we found notables tracks like the semi acoustic pop on ‘To real cry’, the ambient piece of, ‘My to star’ with its post-punk guitars or the blurred and foggy atmospheres of ‘In the mood’ in which Cécile Schott sails with somewhat out of tune notes with her violoncello.
In general we have a disc whose eclectic proposal is very effective.
