Desde “The Tired Sounds Of Stars of the Lid” [Kranky, 2001] Adam Wiltzie y Brian McBride por separado nos entregaron sus propios proyectos The Dead Texan y Brian McBride, respectivamente.
Si “The Tired Sounds Of…” ponía énfasis en los drones de guitarra este nuevo disco lo hace en los instrumentos de cuerda y viento. De hecho con el dúo colaboran varios músicos en violonchelo, trompeta, fliscorno, clarinete, arpa y un coro de niños de la iglesia de Saint-Jean-Baptiste au Beguinage de Bruselas. Fue grabado entre Bruselas – en donde actualmente reside Wiltzie – y en Los Ángeles.
Sumergirse en este doble CD y triple LP es abandonarse a una música épica y grandilocuente. Las ráfagas de violonchelo construyen una maciza orquesta, profunda y con bellos paisajes sonoros. Es lo que muestra el primer CD, en tanto el segundo CD sugiere ambientes más íntimos a través de las piezas de piano y los diálogos que se producen entre los instrumentos de viento.

Since ‘The Tired Sounds Of Stars of the Lid’ [Kranky, 2001] Adam Wiltzie and Brian McBride separately run their own projects The Dead Texan and Brian McBride, respectively.
If ‘The Tired Sounds Of…’ put emphasis on guitar drones this new album is based on strings and brass instruments. In fact the duo is accompanied by several musicians in violoncelle, trumpet, Flugelhorn, clarinet, harp and of a children choir from Saint-Jean-Baptiste au Beguinage childrens choir of Brussels. It was recorded in Brussels – where since a while Wiltzie resides – and in Los Ángeles.
In this double CD and triple LP we immerse in an epic and grandiloquent music. The violoncelle bursts build a massive orchestra, deep and beautiful soundscapes which is exposing on CD 1, while the second CD suggests more intimate atmospheres through the piano pieces and dialogues that take place between the brass instruments.
