Residente en Reykjavik, Islandia, Matthew Collings aka Sketches for Albinos nos trae su séptimo álbum y por vez primera en el nuevo sello japonés nothings66.
Collins toca con Nico Muhly, Ben Frost, Tim Hecker y otros artistas de la escena underground de Reykjavik.
Collins combina finos arreglos acústicos y electrónicos tocando el piano, sonidos acústicos procesados, registros de campo, electrónica, entregando un pop low-fi en la línea de Library Tapes, Akira Kosemura, Teruyuki Nobuchika.
«Days of being wild…» despliega 16 pistas de melodías melancólicas y texturas análogas y en varios de las canciones se escuchan voces de niños como fondo.
Aparte de los espacios íntimos “Lotta” and “Skeye” nos muestran paisajes con una sesión de cuerdas, aunque la percusión retorcida en “Kids with no energy” suena antigua.
“She’s with snoban now” es una fina pieza acústica con una suerte de guitarra y “Jol” es un tema de piano de estética low-fi.
Notables son las remezclas de Chihei Hatakeyama en “Sorbonne midnight”, una composición ambient con una vasta sesión de drones, y el argentino Federico Durand en “A meeting at the merry-go-round”, quien desarrolla espirales de guitarra en la vena de Vini Reilly de The Durutti Column.
Este es un álbum que despliega armónicas y borrosas nubes.

Based in Reykjavik, Iceland, Matthew Collings aka Sketches for Albinos brings out his seventh album and for the first time on the new Japanese nothings66 imprint.
Collins plays along with Nico Muhly, Ben Frost, Tim Hecker and other artists of Reykjavik’s underground scene.
Collins combines fine acoustic and electronic arrangements playing piano, processed acoustics, field recordings, electronics, delivering a low-fi pop in the likes of Library Tapes, Akira Kosemura, Teruyuki Nobuchika.
«Days of being wild…» unfolds 16 tracks of melancholic melodies and analogue texture and in several songs there are child voices in the background.
Apart from the intimate spaces “Lotta” and “Skeye” show up expansive landscapes with its string session, although the scattered percussion on “Kids with no energy” sounds old.
“She’s with snoban now” is a fine acoustic piece with a guitar-like and “Jol” is a piano aesthetic low-fi piece.
Notable remix pieces by Chihei Hatakeyama on “Sorbonne midnight”, which is an ambient composition with a vast drone section, and Argentinean Federico Durand’s “A meeting at the merry-go-round” who develops swirling guitar spirals in the vein of Vini Reilly’s The Durutti Column.
This is a nice album unfolding hazy harmonic clouds.
