Guy Birkin es un artista visual y músico que trabaja como profesor investigador en la Escuela de Arte y Diseño en la Universidad de Trent de Nottingham, Reino Unido.
El trabajo de Birkin está relacionado con la complejidad visual y sus resultados explican que ésta se logra con tiempo, dedicación y habilidad para ser creada.
Las técnicas de investigación fueron originalmente usadas para analizar material visual pero fue empleado como base para hacer sonido.
En ‘Symmetry-Breaking’ hay una exploración en microsonido, síntesis granular en la que Birkin toca el piano, órgano de tubo, tambores metálicos, campanas de iglesia, guitarra y bajo.
Estos diminutas gotas de lluvia también pueden formar imágenes visuales que insinúan corrientes armónicas dentro de una composición ambient.
El sonido puede que tenga complejidades en su configuración pero el resultado son brillantes y abstractas melodías.

Guy Birkin is a visual artist and musician who works as Research Fellow in the School of Art and Design at Nottingham Trent University, UK.
Birkin’s research is related to visual complexity and the result that explain complexity is achieved in a period of time, which means effort and skills to create.
In the research the techniques were originally used to analyse visual material but now are employed as a basis for making sound.
On ‘Symmetry-Breaking’ there is an exploration on micro-sound, noise and granular synthesis in which Birkin plays piano, pipe organ, steel drums, church bells, guitar and bass.
These tiny digital raindrops may also formed visual images which insinuate drifting harmonies within an ambient composition.
The sound may have a complex configuration but the results unfold shimmering and abstract melodies.
