Esta edición es parte de la serie Soundscape Series del sello alemán Gruenrekorder y en esta oportunidad presenta el trabajo de Pietro Riparbelli, filósofo, compositor y artista sonoro que reside en Livorno, Toscana.
Riparbelli ha editado en varios sellos de Europa y EE.UU. en donde también ha realizado sus presentaciones e instalaciones.
El trabajo de Riparbelli se enfoca en el fenómeno de la percepción y en especial en el contraste entre lo visible y lo invisible que está vinculado al concepto del paisaje sonoro.
Este disco consiste en la grabación de registros de campo realizados entre el 3 y el 5 de mayo de 2011 en el Santuario de la Verna, construido en el Siglo XIII ubicado en la cima de una montaña llamada «la montaña de los Estigmas», en la Toscana. Allí vivió junto a los monjes, asistiendo a las ceremonias y grabando los sonidos del lugar, intentando capturar la esencia de la contemplación.
El disco contiene tres largos temas, uno por cada día y con tres intermedios en donde se mezclan los tratamientos electrónicos y los registros de campo.
Por cierto el silencio es un elemento presente en cada tema, así como el sonido ambiente con gente caminando, el canto de los pájaros, un coro y órgano lejanos, campanas. Todo ello viene del mundo orgánico y acústico, en tanto es intervenido por los sonidos sintéticos como son los drones, ruidos estáticos.
Este es un trabajo que registra con precisión la atmósfera del Santuario, en donde la quietud, la adoración y el silencio forman parte de esa ‘percepción del fenómeno’.

This edition is part of the Soundscape Series of the German label Gruenrekorder and in this occasion presents Pietro Riparbelli’s work, who is a philosopher, composer and sound artist living in Livorno, Tuscany.
Riparbelli has released in several European and U.S. labels where he has also done performances and installations.
Riparbelli’s work focuses on the phenomenon of spatial perception and the contrast between the visible and the invisible that is linked to the concept of soundscape.
The disc consists in field recordings made between May 3-5, 2011 at the Sanctuary of La Verna, built in the Thirteenth Century located in the top of a mountain called «the mountain of the Stigmata» in Tuscany. There he lived with the monks, attending ceremonies and recording the sounds of the place, trying to capture the essence of contemplation.
The disc contains three long tracks, one for each day, and three interludes, where electronic treatments merge with field recordings.
Indeed silence is an element present in each track and the background noise with people walking, bird songs, a choir and organ sound at the distance and bells. All this comes from the organic and acoustic world, as it is intervened by synthetic sounds such as drones, static noise.
This work accurately records the atmosphere of the Sanctuary, where the stillness, worship and silence are part of that ‘perception of the phenomenon’.
